Some Reading for ’09 Theological Conference

While we’re waiting for the other papers to be posted and reading lists to be produced, might I suggest the reading and discussion of the following papers that will be a part of the reading assignments for my session at the conference? “Guilt by Association” (an Adobe Reader .pdf document) was my contribution to the Winter Free Conference sponsored by the Association of Confessional Lutheran Churches and the Evangelical Lutheran Diocese of North America; “Making a Clear Confession in Muddy Waters” (a Microsoft Word document) is Pr. Rolf Preus’s contribution to that same discussion. These, together with another online resource or two, as well as readings in Werner Elert’s Eucharist and Fellowship in the First Four Centuries, Pieper’s Christian Dogmatics, Kurt Marquart’s The Church and Her Fellowship, Ministry, and Governance, and C.F.W. Walther’s Communion Theses on Church Fellowship with Those Who Teach Differently will be the chief resources for the portion of the discussion that I will lead at our Theological Conference in May.

The link is broken for “Guilt By Association”. It should be http://holytrinitylc.com/guilt_by_association.pdf [The post has now been edited to reflect this correction. Thank you!]

Father Stefanski (or others who can answer),

Do you know where I can get my hands on Walther’s Communion Theses? I tried to find them online, but failed.

    Thanks,

    Rev. Andrew Eckert

I couldn’t find copies, either, so I have contacted the translator to see if there is some way to make this work available. It may yet be available through the Ft. Wayne sem bookstore, but it’s not through their website. I’ll let y’all know what I find out from the translator.

The translator, the Rev. Dr. Laurence White, has given us permission to release the book as a .pdf file. Now, we just have to make it into a .pdf file…without ruining my only copy of the book, if possible. It’s not likely to happen yet today, but I’m hoping to have it done this week.

    Much obliged.

There’s no rush. By May would be great.

    Thanks again.
